From 28 January, The Arc community centre on the Packington Estate, Islington, is going to be used as a coronavirus vaccination site.
Thousands of residents living in Islington will now be invited to the centre for their Covid-19 vaccinations.
The Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for NHS Islington contacted Damien Brown, the manager of the centre, and asked if it could be used to help vaccinate as many residents as possible in the area.
Damien said: “The pandemic has really affected the local community. The Arc community centre is helping residents from both sides. Not only are we operating a foodbank, but the community centre is supporting the vaccination programme. I couldn’t be prouder.”
Safia Noor, Successful Places Manager said: “This is great news. We are delighted that the Arc community centre is being used as a vaccination site. It’s a great space, used and loved by so many Islington residents. The team there are exceptional, their relationships with residents and the services they offer have supported so many people during the pandemic and this has been invaluable to the local community and Hyde.”
Residents are reminded not to turn up at the centre for a vaccination without an appointment. Local residents will be contacted directly when it is their turn and will receive all the information they need for their appointment.
Hyde will provide parking for NHS staff working at the centre.
