Helping older residents get online

Posted on 02 July 2019

Hyde Foundation and Petworth Vision have been working in partnership to deliver digital skills training to our older residents in West Sussex. The project enables residents to develop basic digital skills so that they can easily access our digital services. We have now secured National Lottery funding to deliver a further one year programme of digital skills training for Hyde’s older residents.

Hyde Charitable Trust funded the original pilot project which enabled Petworth Vision to build a better understanding of local residents digital skills needs and further develop the training package to include residents doing their banking online, more confidence in online shopping, and staying in contact with friends and family.

Julie Martner, a Hyde resident who took part in one of the pilot sessions commented: “Thank you for giving me the confidence to send a very important email to my family in Australia.”

Campaign Manager Samantha Moore said: “This funding will give us more opportunity to grow and build on residents’ skills and confidence in using computers and filling out forms”.
