Free online courses for Hyde customers in Brighton & Hove

Are you a Hyde resident that is currently unemployed, living in Brighton & Hove, and keen to learn new skills and gain qualifications?

We're working in partnership with London Learning Consortium (LLC) to deliver free courses, qualifications and key employability skills to our customers. The training is currently online, with work placements being either online or onsite.

Courses include:

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Suitable for our customers who are English speakers of other languages that wish to improve and develop their skills in this area, as well as gaining a recognised qualification which many employers require. This course will support you with speaking, listening, writing and reading skills. At the end of the course, you will receive the City & Guilds Accredited ESOL Certificate.

Functional Skills

This course is designed to help improve Maths and English skills. On completing the course, you will receive the following qualifications: Functional Skills Maths Level 1 or 2; and Functional Skills English Level 1 or 2.

Who is eligible?

You must be:

  • Age 19+
  • Living in Brighton & Hove
  • Currently not working and registered as unemployed (not on furlough) and receiving a form of government benefit. Joint claims will also be considered
  • Living in the UK/EU for over three years. (Citizenship and/or residency confirmation will be required as part of the enrolment)
  • You must not be registered to another funded or full-time education course at the point of enrolling.

LLC will be lending laptops and dongles to students. Further details will be given to students after they have enrolled on a course.
