Our Customer Services team have recently hosted three traineeships for a six week development and work experience programme on behalf of Skills for Growth, a charitable organisation supporting young people on their journey towards work. Designed to give them real work experience and open doors for a future job, it also helped them improve their confidence, communication and IT skills.
The trainees were given an induction and experience of dealing with customer service calls and were coached and managed by a team from across several of our departments.
Skills for Growth indicated that we have been one of the best organisations to host trainees that they have come across. This was because of the investment we put into their training and the extent to which we looked out for and after our trainees.
Organisational Development Officer, Girija Tase was impressed with the benefit each of the trainees took from their time with us:
“For one of our trainees who was quiet by nature, this placement has given her more confidence in expressing herself. Another trainee thanked us for the experience and the change in him is visible. His levels of confidence in himself have shot up and he almost seems to have grown a few inches taller himself!”
The trainees themselves were keen to share their thanks for the experience:
“Thanks to Hyde I will now have more/better job opportunities for my future career. I think Hyde is an amazing organisation and that is mostly due to the fantastic characters that make it what it is.”
“I am happy to inform you all that I am now pursuing my dream job as a letting negotiator. Six weeks ago I started a traineeship with Hyde Housing, it has been so great learning so much and I am proud to take this experience along with me. I am so grateful to have taken this opportunity.”
The programme also offered development opportunities within Customer Services as the trainees were line managed by one of our Customer Services Officers, Curtis:
“I would also like to thank you all for giving me this opportunity to extend myself beyond my current role. It has been quite a rewarding experience, especially when you can see your skills being transferred over to others and put into action.”
