Claire Dove, former board member of the Charity Commission and Chair of Social Enterprise UK from 2007 to 2017, was pleased to hear about the social value work we deliver. Chichi Onyenemelu, Hyde Social Value Adviser, visited Claire in Westminster to talk about how we have introduced a systematic approach to creating social value from our supply chain. She explained how these benefits are used to support local charities and social enterprises; as well as Hyde residents and communities directly.
Claire has been appointed as the new Crown Representative of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector. The focus of her role is to work alongside government departments to strengthen the sector, support the upcoming Civil Society Strategy and encourage voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to operate more commercially.
Claire said: “Housing Associations are significant procurers of various services; and have unique access to local communities and the social enterprises and charities who service them. It is very encouraging to hear that Hyde is committed to generating social value and reflecting this in their strategies, practices and partnerships; and are setting strong expectations for their suppliers. I look forward to hearing more about the impact their work will have on the VCSE sector.”
Claire’s insight and guidance will help inform the next phase of our social value work, as we continue to work with our suppliers to create opportunities for local communities and VCSE organisations working for their good, and operating where Hyde has a presence.
