The Plain English Campaign has given its seal of excellence to the Hyde Group website. The Crystal Mark shows that a website is clear, well-designed and accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or technology.
Our site was relaunched in March last year with an easy-to-read layout and tools to help visitors find what they are looking for quickly, but the improvements did not stop there. Our antisocial behaviour toolkit has been well received, with other housing associations taking an interest, while the use of our updated online forms is growing every month.
52% of visitors now use a mobile or tablet to view the website, illustrating the changing nature of user needs.
Digital Communications Manager, Emma Morrison, said: “We take great pride in making our website as easy as possible for our residents to use. The Crystal Mark acknowledges that we are succeeding, but we never view our website as something static, so the job is never done. We are continually examining user behaviour and feedback in order to make improvements, like adding user-friendly ‘mega menus’, simpler landing pages and the A-Z services search.”
Website improvements are part of our drive to move resident communications online, enabling us to respond faster and more effectively and meeting our objective of delivering easy-to-use landlord services.
