David Gannicott set to retire after 40 years in housing

Posted on 11 December 2018

After 40 years in the housing sector, Group Director of Business Development at the Hyde Group, David Gannicott is to retire in March 2019.

In the six years that David has been with us, he has transformed our development programme from around 800 homes a year into its biggest and highest profile development programme in our 51 year history. We are now set to build more than 11,000 new homes over the next four and a half years – with around half of them being truly affordable.

Through his vision and experience, Hyde has created a series of unique, innovative partnerships with Homes England, the GLA, local authorities, developers, as well as other housing associations; all of which mean that we can deliver even more truly affordable housing and help towards addressing the housing shortage in London and the South East.

David said: “Hyde is a great organisation with proud roots and big ambitions. Hyde has achieved much over the years, sometimes in adverse operating environments and I am proud to have played a small part in its illustrious history. Thank you to everyone I have worked with for your commitment and support in my time at Hyde; it’s been great fun and I’ve enjoyed it all immensely. Here’s to the future, good luck and best wishes to you all.”

Elaine Bailey, Chief Executive of the Hyde Group said: “We would like to thank David for his contribution to Hyde over the last six years. His innovation, drive and passion has helped us get to where we are today, and means that we can give more people a roof so they can make a home. We wish him all the very best for his retirement.”
