We've now exchanged contracts to acquire the Civic Centre in Ham Road, Shoreham-by-Sea from Adur District Council.
Having worked together on the potential of the site for the last two years, Adur District Council and Hyde are both delighted that the next stage of work can now begin to bring much-needed affordable new homes to the area.
An application for planning approval has now been submitted and both the council and Hyde are seeking to acquire detailed approval later this year. Hyde’s planning application comprises the creation of 171 new apartments for shared ownership and social rent, as well as 1003sqm of ground floor commercial space. The commercial space could be used as shared workspace to reflect the changes in working practices, and to provide high quality alternatives to working from the office.
The proposed scheme will be fully funded through our strategic partnership with Homes England. This means that not only can the partnership provide homes for local people who desperately need them, but can help people stay in the area through a range of affordable home ownership options.
The scheme we're proposing has been sensitively designed to improve the public realm and add much-needed green landscaping across the site, as well as on the Brighton Road frontage which will help promote sustainability.
We ran a public consultation with local residents, neighbours and other interested parties to discuss the scheme and where possible, incorporated the feedback into their final designs.
