Fire at 315 High Street, Orpington
Unfortunately a fire occurred on Monday 2 July at 315 High Street in Orpington. All residents were evacuated safely from the building, while London Fire Brigade tackled the fire. Specialist teams have been on site assessing damage to the building and an emergency centre was set up with Bromley Council at Orpington Village Hall to provide residents with emergency food, clothing and supplies.
For affected residents:
Hyde arranged temporary accommodation in local hotels as a short term solution while the building was assessed. We understand this has been difficult for residents as this stay has been longer than anticipated. We are working closely with our partners at the London Borough of Bromley to identify options for more suitable accommodation as quickly as possible.
It is important that all residents register as soon as possible at Bromley Homeseekers website. Click the button below to access the site:
Once you have completed your application please send the reference number to firstname.lastname@example.org
We recognise the need to supply residents with further financial assistance and have arranged a weekly payment to residents in advance, whilst they remain in hotel accommodation. We are contacting residents to advise how this extra money can be collected; it is anticipated this will be a cash sum this week. Going forward we would like to make weekly payments directly into bank accounts and so would ask you to please give local staff the relevant details and permissions to do this.
Accessing the building
Many of you have asked about the building which is now secure and can be accessed between 12 and 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursday to collect belongings. (Please note you must bring identification with you to access the building.)
We are working alongside the owner of the building, while the necessary investigations are taking place to assess the structural damage. Our aim is to get people back in their homes, but there has been significant damage and we have to ensure the building is safe, which will take some time. It’s not yet clear how long the building may be uninhabitable, but as soon as we know more we will of course update you.
