Who currently qualifies for the existing schemes?
If your home was built or acquired after 1 April 1997 and you have been a tenant for at least three years you may have the Right to Acquire. If you are a Hyde tenant, please complete our online form to request an application pack.
If you are a tenant of the Hyde Group, and your home was sold or transferred to us by your local council, and you have been a public sector tenant for a minimum of three years you may have the Right to Buy. If you are a Hyde tenant, please complete our online form to request an application pack.
Previous tenancies and tenancies with other councils and housing associations can sometimes count towards this.
How does the current scheme work?
You apply to buy your home by filling in an application pack and sending it to the Home Ownership Team. We will assess your application and write back to you confirming whether or not you have the Right to Buy or Right to Acquire.
If you have the Right to Buy or Acquire, we will arrange for your home to be valued and send you an offer of sale. You then have three months to decide if you wish to buy your home.
How do I apply?
Please complete our online form to request an application pack.
You may be asked to supply documentation at a later date. If you are, please ensure you only send certified copies of ID and evidence of residency. Please note that you do not need a third party to complete the application form for you, it is something you can do yourself.
