Life as an apprentice at Hyde

Posted on 16 September 2021

Earlier this month we welcomed eight new apprentices to the Hyde family.

Our new apprentices have joined a number of different teams across the business including Digital Communications, Data Analysts and Engineering, Customer Services and Building Surveying teams. As well as building a career and learning new skills, our apprentices will also gain a qualification.

We spoke to Megan, our new Digital Communications apprentice, to find out how she’s found her first week working at Hyde.

How has your first week been and what have you been involved in?

I’ve loved it! This week has involved a lot of introductions to people in the team, who are all so lovely and made me feel so welcome, and the processes I’ll be learning and doing, for example social media and how posting content on pages runs. I’ve also been involved in the big staff conference coming up – which is very exciting!

What would you say the top things you’ve learnt, or learning are?

As it’s my first time in a working environment, I knew I was going to make mistakes, but I wasn’t afraid to give things a go and learn at every opportunity – this mindset was developed through the help of my team. They all created a space for me to attempt tasks, ask questions and learn from them.

Where do you see your future with Hyde?

As I continue my apprenticeship, I know I’ll feel out areas that I would enjoy developing on, as well as building relationships here. Once my apprenticeship has ended I’d love to have more opportunities with this company, either in a full-time role or a degree apprenticeship.

Applications for our next apprenticeship scheme will open in Summer 2022. Want to know more about what it is life being a Hyde apprentice? Hear from our former apprentices.
