Recruitment for our new CEO underway

Posted on 17 June 2021

Following the announcement last week that Chief Executive Officer Peter Denton will be leaving Hyde to head up Homes England, Neal Ackcral, Hyde’s Chief Property Officer has been appointed Interim CEO at the Hyde Group. This will come into effect on 1 July 2021, with Peter’s last day at Hyde being 30 June 2021.

The process of recruiting a permanent replacement will start immediately and the position will be open to both external and internal candidates in a robust competitive recruitment process. It is hoped that an appointment will be made in the autumn.

Alan Collett, Chair of Group Board, said: “Hyde has a hugely strong and capable executive and senior leadership team built up by Peter over the last couple of years, ably supported by a dedicated, skilled, engaged and enthusiastic staff base. This means that under Neal’s guidance we'll continue to deliver the objectives of our Strategic Plan, providing decent, energy-efficient, safe homes with a customer first approach.

“I'm delighted that Neal has accepted the role as Interim CEO and his skills and experience will stand us in good stead over the coming months.”

Commenting on his appointment Neal said: “I'm very proud to have been asked to take on this role until a permanent appointment is made. We have a lot to do and it is important that we carry on delivering more homes, safer homes and energy-efficient homes as well as improving our services and helping our customers.”

In making the decision to allow Peter to be released from his contract at the end of the month, Hyde’s Board have recognised the importance of his new role for the sector.

Mr Collett continued: “There is much for Peter to do at Homes England, not least prepare for the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review in the autumn, which will be crucial in ensuring that housing receives its fair share of funding, if we're going to provide more and better homes for those who desperately need them.

“I would like to thank Peter for all he has done at Hyde and wish him every success in his new role.”
