Hyde’s Building Safety Taskforce team was one of the winners of Inside Housing magazine’s Resident Safety Campaign competition.
The team was praised for its work in identifying and tacking issues surrounding resident safety, engaging residents along the way.
“We are incredibly proud of all the work that we have done since the tragic events at Grenfell Tower,” said Jake Le Page, Interim Head of Hyde’s Building Safety Taskforce. “Our bold approach has resulted in Hyde taking the lead on building safety.”
The entry focused on ‘Fire safety at Hyde’, a film demonstrating how we are keeping residents safe – particularly in our tall buildings, and also on the recladding of five of our tower blocks in Gosport.
“Ongoing resident engagement and strong partnership working with key stakeholders was key to the success of the Gosport project,” said Le Page. “Our approach was to be honest, open and supportive. In order to improve engagement, we learned from feedback from residents. This led to weekly ‘drop in’ sessions and residents’ evenings, to keep everyone updated on the works. By building trust, we were able to convince residents and stakeholders that everyone’s safety was our priority.”
Our resident safety work will be profiled in an upcoming issue of the magazine.
