We’re excited to announce that we won Housing Association of the Year at the WhatHouse? Awards – the ‘Housebuilding Oscars’.
We beat stiff competition winning this category, where Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing won Silver and Abri Homes won Bronze.
We took the Gold award for our forward-thinking approach to some of the biggest issues that the industry faces. Judges described Hyde as ‘one of the big beasts of the sector’.
Judges recognised that despite current sectoral financial strains, Hyde is ‘forecasting an increase in its 650 completions last year of around 15% and aiming to build 13,000 homes over the next 10 years. It’s achieving this through positive large-scale collaborations, including joint venture arrangements’.
Judges also recognised our focus on sustainable development, as one of the founding partners of the Greener Futures Partnership, and how we also ensure that we deliver on social value, with ‘innovative and influential research around the societal value created by social housing tenancies’.
Hyde New Homes won Silver in the ‘Best Interior Design’ category, for Seaview Meadows, Saltdean. Judges summed it up by saying that the homes here ‘made your heart sing’. They recognised everything from the magnificent quality of the interior design to the professional sales team. One judge said that our entry was one of the best they had read in the 6 years they had been judging.
Gold award in this category went to The Fenchurch, London Dock, Wapping, by Berkeley Homes, and Bronze went to The Hanwell, Hayfield Wood, Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire by Hayfield.
We were also finalist in the 'Best Medium Housebuilder' category (again for Seaview Meadows).
Guy Slocombe, Hyde’s Chief Investment Officer said: “We are incredibly excited that we won not just one, but two of these incredibly prestigious awards – where we are up against the best in new homes and housebuilders in Britain. These awards are fiercely contested, so to be judged by industry leaders and win Housing Association of the Year and Silver in the ‘Best Interior Design’ category for Seaview Meadows really is exceptional.
“I’m so proud of Hyde and humbled to have been judged alongside MTVH and Abri, two housing associations we greatly admire. Hyde is a progressive organisation with an ambitious strategy. We are blessed with an incredible staff and outstanding partners who must share this award.”
Mark Docherty, Sales and Marketing Director for Hyde New Homes said: “This really is an incredible achievement for Hyde New Homes. We're thrilled in winning the Silver prize for the ‘Best Interior Design’ award, particularly as we were up against giants in the industry, such as Berkeley Homes.
"Our vision was to translate Saltdean’s proud architectural heritage into modern living, with a nod to the historic concept. We wanted to bring everything together in a home that is spacious, functional and adaptable to the needs of contemporary life, balancing living space with ample outdoor space and clever details. The interior design was executed by Rebecca Tucker of SUNA interior design and encapsulated all of our ideas -we are thrilled with the result!”
The awards were presented at a ceremony at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London, on 19 November, and were presented by Clare Balding OBE and Sir Chris Hoy.
Congratulations again to all the winners.
