Working together to bring new homes to East of England

Posted on 01 February 2018

We are delighted to have teamed up with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority as well as 14 other housing associations to deliver up to 40,000 homes over the next 20 years.

The partnership between the combined authority and an alliance of housing associations, called Homes for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, will use some of its £170m grant to build mixed-tenure housing, including homes at affordable rents. The partnership will kick off by building at least 2,000 homes by 2021.

Hyde Group Chief Executive, Elaine Bailey, said: “This joining-up of housing associations and trying to work in partnership with local authorities is exactly the route we need to go down.”

She said the “hope and the intention” of the partnership was for the combined authority to make sites available for development.

She added: “Instead of housing associations competing with each other, we’re all working together. If local authorities have land available to them then we can start putting programmes of work together, rather than one-off sites all the time.

“Everybody working together with the single aim of providing more homes speeds things up and makes things simpler.”
