We are delighted to welcome Guy Slocombe and Neal Ackcral to the Executive Team at Hyde. Guy will be taking over responsibility for Development and Strategic Asset Management in his role as Group Business Development Director, and Neal steps into a newly-created position of Group Property Director, to provide the greatest possible focus on ensuring our homes are safe, well-maintained and fit for the future.
Guy Slocombe, Group Business Development Director
We have an ambitious development programme of 11,000 new homes over the next five years, with a strong emphasis on affordable tenures. The environment is unlikely to be easy but we have the skills, capabilities and financial robustness to deliver on our mission. We benefit from a wide and strong range of partners, be they national housebuilders, construction companies, local authorities or housing associations; all fundamentally supported by Homes England and the Greater London Authority.
Guy joins Hyde at the end of April following six years at Westminster City Council, where he was Director of Property and led a multi-disciplined investment and asset management team.
Guy grew the council’s £1bn investment and corporate portfolios, along with a significant housing-led development programme, providing new affordable housing from Mayfair to Paddington, and worked closely with the council’s regeneration teams.
He is an experienced Chartered Surveyor having spent 20 years in the city, latterly as a Partner at Drivers Jonas (now Deloitte). He was CEO of the private equity-backed Clarenco, a property company focusing on mixed use investment and development.
Guy said: “Good quality, affordable homes are fundamental to the success and wellbeing of every component of society. The housing sector is the most dynamic across the real estate spectrum and I am delighted to be joining a very strong and innovative team at Hyde, where I look forward to contributing to its ambitious programme of work.”
Neal Ackcral, Group Property Director
The creation of the new Property Director role will ensure we continue to invest in our existing homes to a high standard and in a timely manner, always meeting the standards required in the Decent Homes legislation. Hyde has also been at the forefront of the sector in proactively seeking to ensure the fire safety of all our buildings and we want to now build on the Hackitt theme of residents ‘being safe and feeling safe’.
Neal is an experienced property and asset management professional who has worked in the housing sector for more than 30 years and joins us at the end of May.
Working as an Executive Director at both Viridian Housing and Optivo, Neal has delivered a number of innovative and successful transformation programmes and strategies, designed to provide excellent customer-focused and efficient services to residents.
Having established a number of award-winning direct labour organisations, environmental and asset management teams, he brings a wealth of experience within these key areas. He also has a genuine commitment and the knowledge to establish a robust health and safety compliance culture, enabling residents to feel safe and secure in their homes.
Neal has a degree in building and is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Chartered Institute of Building. He said: “I am delighted to join the Executive team at Hyde. I have always admired Hyde’s commitment to provide and build quality affordable housing, I look forward to working with the team to improve our services in the future.”
