National Apprenticeship Week 2021 (8-14 February) shines a light on the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices across the country.
We are celebrating the achievements of Hyde’s first ever degree-level apprentice Ella Gardner, who has just completed her first year at London South Bank University (LSBU) on the 3-year Digital Marketer Degree Apprenticeship programme.
Ella started at Hyde in October 2018 as a level 3 digital marketing apprentice in the Communications team. Her manager, Emma Morrison said: “We soon realised that Ella had the potential to go far, and I started researching opportunities for her to continue to the next level. The work-based Digital Marketer degree at LSBU seemed ideal, so Ella applied and was accepted.”
Emma continues: “It is working out really well, we have Ella working with us in the Digital Communications team at Hyde for four days a week, creating and managing content for our intranet, public website and social media channels. Ella then attends university for formal learning one day per week.”
Ella said: “I’m so pleased to be given the opportunity to study for a degree while working and earning. I’ve had to learn to strike a balance between working and completing coursework for my modules, while also adapting to learning via MS Teams due to the pandemic. I’ve really enjoyed year one and am looking forward to my second year.”
We are even more proud to say that Ella’s grade average for the first year has been a First – top of the class Ella, what a fantastic result!
