Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity & Inclusion

This is integral to our social purpose as a developer of homes and communities, a provider of housing services, an employer and a business partner. It is also critical to delivering our vision of making a positive difference to people’s lives.

We are working to embed Diversity and Inclusion in all our business functions by focusing on understanding and addressing the needs of all our customers and staff. We believe that excellent performance on diversity and inclusion will support us in delivering services that are accessible to our customers and provide individualised outcomes.

Our Vision and Ambition

Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity and Inclusion is an integral part of the Hyde Group’s core organisational values. Our vision and ambition is set out in our Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

This aims to ensure we provide and deliver services across the variety of communities and individuals we are responsible to as a social landlord. At the same time we will continue to minimise the gap between economically disadvantaged and socially excluded groups in the communities that we work in.

Diversity & Inclusion Framework

This framework is set out in our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Annual Plan as well as other strategic documents such as the Disability Equality Scheme and the Gender Equality Scheme.

Its implementation supports us in delivering our vision of making a positive difference to our customers lives by understanding and addressing their current and future needs.

Diversity & Inclusion Plan for 2010

This sets out how we make our services more inclusive and our housing more accessible to all our customers and staff regardless of their gender, race, disability, age, faith or sexual orientation. It also says how we will involve everyone in our work.

Disability Equality Scheme

This states how we will make our services more accessible to people with disabilities. All Hyde residents and employees have been involved in its development. It describes the actions we have taken to improve the way in which we deliver our services.

Gender Equality Scheme

This describes what we are doing to make our services more inclusive and our housing more accessible to our customers and staff regardless of gender.

Equality Impact Assessments

We have introduced these assessments across The Hyde Group. It will enable us to think about and address diversity and inclusion issues in the development and review all of our policies, strategies, procedures and projects that will have an impact on the design and delivery of all our services to staff and customers alike.

The Hyde Group's Leadership & Accountability

Diversity& Inclusion

Diversity and Inclusion is a significant part of The Hyde Group’s core organisational values.

We have an impressive and longstanding track record of working with the most deprived communities in society. Our Diversity and Inclusion reputation has helped us to secure new business and attract some of the most talented staff in the sector.

However to have achieved this envious position meant we had to have strong and committed leadership.

By exercising strong “top down” leadership, everyone at Hyde, including our customers, is under no illusion where the driving force is coming from:

  • The Hyde Group Board - sets the agenda on Diversity and Inclusion across the Hyde Group.

  • Executive Management Team  - the ‘engine room’ – ensures all elements are in place and ready to be delivered.

  • Diversity and Inclusion Group  - takes the lead on defining annual objectives for the Group, reviews progress and sets targets

  • Senior Management Forum  - ensures Diversity & Inclusion is in their business plan

  • Senior Management Teams  - leads on development and implementation of the Diversity & Inclusion plan as part of the annual service planning and review process. Ensures the plan is used to improve Hyde’s service to its customers and to identify and share best practice with the teams

  • Hyde Staff and Partners - are responsible for applying the Groups Diversity & Inclusion values, standards and behaviours in their day-to-day contact with customers and co-workers

  • Head of Diversity and Inclusion - provide strategic advice across the Hyde Group enabling them to define Diversity & Inclusion objectives and to deliver them as an integral element of the service planning and review process
