On 1st September volunteers at the Ringcross estate growing project opened up their allotment to the public and celebrated a summer of successful food growing with a BBQ. Visitors could taste the carrots, runner beans, beetroot, and tomatoes grown. Many went away with a goodie bag of runner beans and herbs.

“Ventures like this are a really great way to meet people and improve our environment. The gardening work is always worth it when you see the results and the comments from residents and visitors haven been really positive. Well done to all the allotment volunteers. I can’t wait for the next get together and BBQ,” said head volunteer Richard Baldwin.

Around 50 residents turned out to enjoy the Timperley Gardens Community Fun Day in Redhill recently, courtesy of Hyde, Raven Housing Trust and the Batts Hill Residents’ Association, despite the rainy weather.
Hyde resident, Sarah Wayland, said: ‘It’s really nice to see the whole community come together, old and young. The Residents’ Association has been planning this event for months and it’s excellent to see it all come together. It is especially good that both Hyde and Raven residents are coming along - after all we all live in the same community and the Residents’ Association is open to all.”
Everyone enjoyed the wonders of the travelling zoo, cakes and treats, face-painting, crafts and a fantastic free hog roast laid on by the local butchers. The fire brigade and police also stopped by.
Hyde neighbourhood staff chatted to residents about various community issues, and Maggie Houghton, Hyde Plus Regeneration Co-Ordinator and...
