The residents of the Kender Estate have helped shape the design of this major Hyde regeneration project which began back in 2001.
Now half way through, Hyde’s investment will reach £57m once Phase 4 is finished in 2014.
Kender’s regeneration has been challenging but rewarding thanks to an effective partnership between HTA architects, Osbourne and Calford Seaden. However it has been the residents which have provided the developers and architects with the much needed insight into how an estate should be designed.
Resident representatives sat on the design panel and took great interest in the building from design to completion. They walked around existing developments to get ideas for the concept and took part in coaching sessions on design principles.
